CONSERVATORY PERFORMANCES

We perform but not at dance competitions!

We believe in a non-competitive environment at The Conservatory. Therefore our students do not participate in dance competitions. Instead, we focus on providing exciting and enriching performance opportunities that will help all of our dancers develop confidence, stage-presence and artistry.

Performing is very important to the dancer and, although not mandatory, we encourage all dancers to participate in our performances. The Conservatory stages several productions every year. The Nutcrackeris performed each December and in 2007 we traveled to Ashe County, NC where we performed two sold out shows, as well as in Grayson and Carroll Counties.

Our Spring performances include an original pieces such as Pirates of Tortuga, A Fairie Glen and The Circle of Life as well as the classical ballet stories Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Midsummer Night's Dream and                 Carmina Burana.

In May 2008, we challenged our dancers to use their classical ballet training and staged the Broadway dance musical Cats. All students at The Conservatory participated in the production which brought standing ovations and sold out shows.

Starting in 2010, The Conservatory hosts I Know I Can Dance. This popular forum is a chance for the Conservatory's older students to choreograph their own dances and is an open forum for all dancers to perform in a non-competitive environment.
